Nitya Jani
Nitya Jani, a soon-to-be graduate from Georgia Tech, is deeply passionate about equality, equity, and inclusivity, especially in the context of supporting mental health and creating technologies that benefit those who typically lack access to care. Nitya's commitment to advocacy is evident in her efforts to revive and lead the Best Buddies chapter at Georgia Tech, a nonprofit organization that fosters inclusivity and advocacy for students with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD). Through her leadership, she has created a safe and supportive space on campus, helping students with IDD and their peers build meaningful relationships, learn from one another, and develop allyship skills.
Nitya is also a strong advocate for mental health resources, particularly for students with disabilities. She is currently working on a virtual reality room for play therapy, aimed at making creative therapy practices accessible to those who may face financial or other barriers. Nitya's leadership has earned her recognition, including a leadership award for her work with Best Buddies. She is driven by a belief in the power of kindness, respect, and unity, and she seeks to continue her advocacy work by learning more about leadership and applying it to real-world challenges. Nitya's dedication to creating inclusive communities and supporting underrepresented groups aligns closely with the mission of UNITE 2030, and she sees unity as the core value that drives meaningful change.”
