Yale Young African Scholarship Program (YYAS)

The Yale Young African Scholars Program (YYAS) is an intensive academic and enrichment program designed for African secondary school students planning to pursue tertiary education and who wish to make meaningful impact as young leaders on the continent.

Participants will enhance their academic skills, receive university admission and financial aid application guidance, and join a network of young leaders from across Africa. Following the eight-day program, students will be paired with mentors who will help advise them throughout the university application process. There are no tuition, meal, or lodging costs for students to participate in YYAS.

YYAS is an official program of Yale University.

International Young Woman Mediation Forum (Kenya)

The International Young Women Mediation Forum will bring together 23 young female mediators from Africa and Europe. Participants will include members of different women mediators’ networks such as FemWise-Africa, Women Mediators across the Commonwealth (WMC), and the Mediterranean Women Mediators Network (MWMN). The Forum aims to tackle the lack of representation of young women in mediation processes. Between 1992 and 2011, women globally only made up 2% of chief mediator, 4% of witnesses and signatories, and 9% of negotiators (UN Women 2012).
